This is a big year for Maya Selva—2015 marks the 20th anniversary of launching her company, Maya Selva Cigars, when she introduced the Flor de Selva brand in Paris in 1995. Maya Selva Cigars has since found a dedicated following in Europe, especially in France, where its cigars—Flor de Selva, Cumpay and Villa Zamorano—have carved out a 10 percent market share. So it makes sense that this should also be the year the company makes its first big effort to expand to the United States.
In the last 20 years, Selva’s recipe for success has been simple: create a product using the finest ingredients possible from her native land, Honduras, and then represent that product to the rest of the world with the finest customer service available.
